New kids club programme
10 November 2010
Children holidaying in the Caribbean during the winter holidays now have the opportunity to learn and experience all things Pirate thanks to the launch of the ‘If A Pirate I Must Be’ programme at Halcyon Cove by rex resorts in Antigua.
The resort has devised this special programme to run in its dedicated kids club, rexplorers and will include treasure hunts, role play dressing up, a pirates assault course, Long John Silver one leg races, Pirate inspired arts and crafts as well as learning the fascinating history of the Pirates that visited Antigua.
This inspirational programme will be both educational and fun and parents can enjoy the fact that their children will be learning all about the rich history of the island in the safety of the resort grounds.
The kids club was recently re-launched with the help of child psychologist, Dr Richard Woolfson, who devised a ‘play-diet’ programme to ensure children get a balanced play structure with an emphasis on learning and of course having fun. With over 30 years experience Dr Richard Woolfson says,
“It's vital that kids' clubs in hotels offer children exciting and dynamic play opportunities during their annual holidays. A planned play programme with a range of well-thought-out fun-filled activities, aimed at boosting children's learning and development, is much more enjoyable than simply sticking kids in a room with a bunch of basic toys”.
Halcyon Cove by rex resorts is situated on the shores of Dickinson’s Bay, one of the most beautiful white sandy beaches on the Island. An ideal location for families, during the day, Halcyon Cove has a range of activities for parents to also enjoy. Make the most of the beach location with water sports, relax around the freshwater outdoor pool, enjoy a game of tennis, or just settle down with a good book in the landscaped tropical gardens.
Evenings at Halcyon Cove are all about delicious food and authentically Caribbean entertainment. Once the sun has gone down, the Arawak Terrace plays host to a buffet of delicious creole cuisine, alongside international favourites for less adventurous palates. One of Halcyon Cove’s most spectacular places to be is Warri Pier, a romantic a la carte restaurant, located on its own pier overlooking the ocean. After dinner, the elegant Ciboney Lounge is a great place to relax and take in some traditional Antiguan culture, whilst the lively Lobby Bar hosts a range of music-based entertainment.
