• Standard of accommodation on safari is high and all bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms, including tented camps. Single rooms are available at a supplementary cost
• Your accommodation is booked on a full-board basis, so all of your meals are included. You will need to pay extra for drinks, laundry, tips and telephone calls
Dining at the Lodges
• The safari lodges and camps offer a good choice of high quality cuisine, based on international tastes along side traditional East African flavours. Generally all meals are buffet style
• Many of the lodges have themed nights where local dishes are prepared for guests to sample. These might include ugali, a dish of mashed maize, or nyama choma, a 'bush meat' dish featuring local game such as ostrich or zebra. these dishes will be offered alongside more familiar European cuisine
• Kenya is renowned for its coffee, as well as its tea, so be sure to try these whenever possible
• Morning game drives usually set out at around 7am, giving you the opportunity to grab a very quick bite before you leave (breakfast at the lodges usually begins at 6.30am). On most itineraries you should arrive back at the lodge in time for a 'main' breakfast, if required
• Water is on sale at the lodges and you should take some with you each time you go out on a game drive
Serengeti Sopa Lodge, Serengeti
Serengeti Sopa Lodge is perched in the Nyarboro Hills, with commanding views across the plains of the Serengeti. All accommodation is suite-based, which means guests have a spacious bedroom, sitting room and bathroom, along with a private verandah. The lodge opened in 1992 and has recently undergone a major refurbishment. A wide range of services and facilities are available for guests, including a large swimming pool.
Serengeti Serena Lodge, Serengeti
Like Serengeti Sopa Lodge, Serengeti Serena Lodge occupies a hilltop position overlooking the Serengeti plains. The rooms of the lodge have been inspired by the Masai ‘boma’ or encampment. Each guest ‘room’ is in the form of a circular ‘rondavel’ dwelling made of stone, with a thickly thatched roof. A large circular open-air bar looks out over an ‘infinity’ pool, and the buildings are set amongst trees, streams and ponds.
Migration Camp, Serengeti
Migration Camp is a luxury tended safari camp built into the rocks of a kopje in the picturesque Ndassiate Hill, near Lobo Hills in the Serengeti. The camp overlooks the Grumeti River, and resident game includes lion, leopard, elephant and buffalo. Each of the 14 secluded guest tents has ensuite facilities and the camp also offers a well-stocked library and swimming pool.
Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge, Ngorongoro
Opened in 1992 and recently rennovated, the Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge offers all
suite accommodation. The suites all face towards the
Ngorongoro Crater and include a bedroom, sitting room,
bathroom along with a glazed balcony with views down
onto the crater floor. Temperatures can be cool here
and the swimming pool on the edge of the crater can
be an especially bracing experience, but suites are
centrally-heated to warm you up afterwards. The bar
and dining rooms are built around huge circular fire
places providing warmth and atmosphere.
Ngorongoro Serena Lodge, Ngorongoro
The Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge is built into the rim of the Ngorongoro
Crater. The Lodge has 75 guest rooms all with en-suite showers and most with
a private terrace. Due to the prevailing cool climate in the region, the
lounge and dining room are set indoors, with large picture glass windows
providing excellent views of the crater. All the main areas are complimented
by log fires, and the lounge has an outdoor balcony with a fixed telescope
for guests to use.

Valley. The tents are private and secluded, raised on bases of natural stone
with thatched roofs. Each tent has an ensuite bathroom and its verandah offering
spectacular views over Lake Manyara and Mount Losimongoli.
